Laytongku Community Health Center

Laytongku Community Health Center

Letongku Village—a village in the valley on the Thai-Myanmar border—Laytongku Community Health Center is a beacon of hope for the people here.

The Laytongku Community Health Center was born out of a long-standing Christian ministry with the Karen Taleko people, a community with a unique culture and a simple lifestyle amidst peaceful nature.

Laytongku Community Health Center began its ministry in 2006 as the first step in serving and healing the body and mind of the community, starting with the gospel message that Rev. Allan Eubank brought to the Taleko community in 1962 and gradually absorbed as one of the foundations of belief in this area.

Later in 2009,  Laytongku Community Health Center was officially established under the supervision of the Buengklung Church and then under the Laytongku Church in 2017. The Health Center works closely with the local community, the Thai public health centers, and Umphang Hospital for health training, mother baby programs, patient care and referrals to the Hospital. The Center coordinates with a sister health center on the Myanmar side which aims to provide outreach and referrals as needed for patients living in 11 villages  on the Thai-Myanmar border.

The administration of Laytongku Community Health Center remains tied to the faith and spirit of the community, with the Buengklung Church and the Laytongku Church Committee jointly overseeing accounting and mission direction. At the same time, Laytongku Community Health Center also has a close relationship with the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, acting as the first point of contact for referring patients to Umphang Hospital when necessary

We need more bathrooms.

We are raising funds to build new toilets and repair cement floors at the Laytongku Community Health Center, as well as in the homes of villagers who do not yet have proper toilets. If you would like to support this health promotion project, the cost of providing one bathroom (including cement and pipes) for one family is approximately 3,000 baht or 88 US dollars.
