Cleft Lip and Palate Project

Cleft Lip and Palate Project

Just think about it for a moment…

If your child is born with a cleft lip and palate but has no opportunity for surgical treatment due to financial constraints, how difficult will life be for him or her?

In a world where every child deserves a confident smile, a clear voice and the opportunity to live life to their fullest potential, cleft lip and palate should not be a barrier for anyone.

This project was initiated by the YMCA of Thailand with the intention of helping children of all ethnicities in the country. Although the incidence of this disease has decreased among Thai children due to improved nutrition and health care,… For ethnic Wa children and other ethnic groups along the Thai-Myanmar border, the disease remains a serious problem—especially in remote areas where access to essential healthcare is lacking.

The Panrak Foundation is a key bridge of support for the work of Sukanya (Mint) Jathor Dawson and family as they facilitate transportation, food, translation services, and after care for children and families to Chiang Rai province for surgical care. Mint works with many partners, including Overbrook Hospital Chiang Rai, Mae Fah Luang University Medical Center Hospital, the YMCA, and the volunteer medical team from Operation Smile Canada, along with many other compassionate organizations and volunteers.

To date, hundreds of children have received the opportunity to undergo surgery and smile again.

However, many children of the Lahu ethnic group and other ethnic groups along the Thai-Myanmar border are still waiting for that opportunity…

Every donation you make changes to a child’s life forever.

Give them the chance to speak clearly, smile widely, and live a life filled with hope.
